Your FEET are your body's FOUNDATION......
Have you looked at yourself in a full-length mirror, lately? Do you have a tilt in your pelvis? A difference in height between your two shoulder levels? This kind of postural distortion is quite common; especially in patients who suffer from knee, hip or lower back pain. Of course, these and other symptoms can be caused by YOUR FEET. So the bottom line is that the condition of your feet can and does have a dramatic effect on your POSTURE. Symptoms of pain in various body areas can be minimized through regular chiropractic treatments, but unless you have your feet examined and then properly stabilized, problems like these can become chronic with joint degeneration leading to joint replacement surgery. In most cases the origin of these chronic problems can be traced to the feet. If one or both of your feet are pronated (flat with defective or missing arches), then the ankle buckles inward, the foot flares outward, the knee rotates inwards, and the pelvis tilts and distorts downwards. If this continues long enough, scoliosis distortion can result along the spine and create new problems with discs and nerves. I have some patients whose headaches have been traced to their feet.
As a part of the initial visit at my office, I scan both your feet with you standing on the 3-D Body View Scanning device...very scientific, sensitive and accurate in its findings.
After just a few seconds, the weight-bearing scan of both your feet is then analyzed by the computer, and then given a diagnosis and recommendation for proper corrections, if any are necessary.
The results are printed out in a report in which a comparison is made between your feet and what we consider normal or ideal and you receive a copy to take along with you.
There are different degrees of foot dysfunction and so the purpose of the computerized laser scan is to determine exactly what degree of customization your feet and body would need to be built into corrective inserts, sandals, or shoethotics.
THE ABOVE SCAN SHOWS SEVERE PRONATION OF BOTH PATIENT'S FEET (to the LEFT of the normal feet).
The more red color indicates greater pronation and instability.
Pronation is a condition of imbalance and instability.
Compare to the feet at right (above) which are ideal/normal with more green than red.
A proper and healthy PLANTAR VAULT consists of THREE ARCHES which must be present and WORKING TOGETHER PROPERLY in order to give the proper balance and support to your body.
CORRECTION OF THE PLANTAR VAULT IS ACCOMPLISHED THROUGH BUILDING CUSTOM ORTHOTIC INSOLES, NOT JUST FOR THE INDIVIDUAL PATIENT, BUT FOR EACH INDIVIDUAL PATIENT'S FOOT. THERE ARE DIFFERENT MODELS AND STYLES FOR DIFFERENT SHOES AND LIFESTYLES.
